symmetrical maps

A few information in Planet Wars specification ("Most (?!) maps on the server and in the starter packs were generated programmatically"). I've looked through Python script - it generates center-cimmetrical maps.

Is it true that all maps are (will allways be) center-symmetrical?
Have Player1 and Player2 start points center-symmetrical always also ?

This way we have "balanced" maps with simultaneous turns.
At the beginning we have "our side" and "opposite side", front and rears.
One can plan center charges or flank charges.
And so on :geek:

What do you know/think about it?

So far every map seems to have a perfectly symmetrical (generally rotationally-so) set-up.

However, I would not design your bot to require it.

By the way. If we have got 2 perfect bots then it will be always a draw because of that simmetry.
I haven't been able to test my bot versus preious version for reason of the same logic. That was like a mirror. Too boring.
Unfortunatly we can't have 2 parties on a non-symmetrical map (like in card game Bridge when teams have to play both the deals) or smth like in soccer (1 game we play on the host field, second - on guest field).
Those sets/fields/starting position are different. So it's much more interesting. And then we start from the opposite side. The bot doesn't remember prev.game. So it's OK
But we don't have it :|

Create a small asymmetrical map that fits in 1 quadrant of the whole space. Mimic the map in the opposite quadrant far away with the starting positions swapped. That means each player has 2 starting planets. Whichever side cleans up the better position first can then start streaming fleets to the worse position for support. You now have maps that are asymmetrical and symmetrical at the same time!
