How to calculate free ships?

Postby anatoliin » Thu Oct 21, 2010 6:51 pm

Lets say there are 3 occupied planets:
Enemy (13+2)
Me1 (6+1)
Me2 (6+1)
Distances:
Enemy - Me1 = 2
Enemy - Me2 = 2
Me1 - Me2 = 1
The question is how to calculate number of my free ships.
Actually i calculate them twice in the current example. Here is how:
For Me1: If Enemy sends full fleet to Me1 then we have 8 ships on Me1 and also can get in time 7 ships from Me2. So there are 2 free ships on Me1.
For Me2: same thing.
My next move is to send those 4 "free ships" away :)
Any suggestions?

Enemy wins!!

(you don't have "6 free ships" only three (and actually not even that))

(8-3 = 5, 7-3 = 4, 5+4 = 9, 13 > 9 = Enemy Wins.)

Beside, 8+7 = 15 - 13 = 2 "free ships" not three.

and no it is not 2 each -- 8-2=6, 7-2=5, 6+5 = 11, 13 > 11 Enemy wins.

Humorous suggestion: Take more math classes. :-D

Thanks for pointing that out, fixed previous post.
I wanted to say that I am calculating free ships for each planet and then adding them which gives me incorrect result.

my idea is to calculate free ships not for single planets but for the blocks of planets - dist(me1-me2)<dist(enemy-me)so blocks will be (me1+me2) and (enemy), and there are 2 free ships to the (me1+me2).
