TCP Server

I'm having a problem where I get random timeouts from the server. Everything will be going fine, then it just hangs and I have to kill the client, and the server logs show that I timed out.

Looking at the wireshark trace on my end, it shows that I never even received the map data for this turn. The connection stays open until I kill the client, at which point the connection closes and the server sends me the missing data.

I'm looking through the server code to see why this could happen, but I can't really explain it.

Is the server running as 64 bit? Because if it isn't it then the timeout code is broken when it wraps around.

The server's address is given by host and port. port may be a name from /etc/services or a number; if it is 0, tcpserver will choose a free TCP port. host may be 0, allowing connections to any local IP address; or a dotted-decimal IP address, allowing connections only to that address; or a host name, allowing connections to the first IP address for that host.

It seems like turn limit on server is 300. Maybe it would be better to set it to 200, as on official server?

So I had this idea on creating "Debugger games" with the 'protocol' described here.

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=703&start=0

Is there any way that this can be easily implemented based on/ using the TCP-server?

Ooops, I was capturing the wireshark inside the VM I'm running in, when I get the trace on the host it looks like the server is fine (sends the map data then 5 seconds later tells me I've timed out and disconnects). I'll try updating VMWare, its NAT seems to be the problem.

Any way to get the timeout increased to compensate for lag time? My connection isn't the best and I'm timing out on a lot of matches.
