please, change version of mono-compiler to latest version.
current version supported c# version 2.0 that very very ugly(no extensions, no lambdas, no linq (collection algorithms) and etc) by compare with c# version 3.5

http://www.mono-project.com/CSharp_Compiler
needed gmcs.

+1 to that.

Besides, 1.2.6 can't even compile your sample:

PlanetWars.cs(14,19): error CS1526: A new expression requires () or [] after type
Compilation failed: 1 error(s), 0 warnings

Who do we need to hug/kiss/perform more illicit acts upon to get this done?,

Is there anything we as a community can do to speed it up? Step by step guide? Code? Doing the dishes, Ive mostly completed my first attempt at this and would really like to submit it and see how it fairs in the comp, Yet the lack of linq makes my entry almost completly need a rewrite.

While granted it would probally only take 5-6 hours to do, Those 5-6 hours could be spent improving the code, Not back dating it to acient language constraints.
