Extending Ants ideas.

1. "Eating" water. An ant could sacrifice itself to take away a water square, or convert water to food which another ant would then eat, or have to take it back to hill. There can also be "rock" squares which are uneatable.

2. Towers. Several ants can converge on one square and convert to a mini tower. This tower requires say, three enemy ants to shoot down in its radius.

3. Super Ant. This ant has either double speed, double strength or both. It requires much more food to produce. This will need a food storing mechanism. A super ant could be immune to towers for example. Or it can cost the same have double strength but moves at half speed or have limited view radius.

4. Fixed food source. There could be a food source that is permanent, but requires food to be transported back to the hill.

5. Deathmatch mode. Each player has a fixed amount of ants and there is no food to gather. Maps are small and intense.

6. "Flying" ants, that can go over water, but are handicapped by speed, strength or food cost.

7. Wall producing ants. Ants sacrifice themselves to convert into water.

8. Hill making ants. They could be specially produced and take several turns to make the actual hill.

9. Hills can move, at a very slow rate.

10. Invisible ants. They can move about but not attack, killed or gather food. They help clear fog of war.

11. Anti invisible ants. These discover invisible ants and immediately vaporize them.

12. Diplomacy. Ability to offer peace pacts with other players and to break them of course at any time. Food can be negotiated. The visualizer would have to show this somehow.

13. Hex squares. We could use the exact same rules but upgrade to hex type mapping.

14. RTS mode. Not turns but actual real time resolution of the map. This will force programming to become much more efficient and priority based.
