game scheduling flaky?

Postby kduleba » Wed Feb 10, 2010 8:04 pm

Why my bot is not getting more games? In particular, it hasn't played yet with any of the other top bots. Last game it played was over 10 minutes ago.

Agree. It's way slower than some days ago. And the total number of games played does not reflect the total number of bots in the challenge. Is there a reason for that ?

I noticed that too. Not very surprising, given that there are more bots now than there were before, they probably started maxing out their time per move and there's only a finite number of CPUs to process all that.

That's a different thing. Slower game rate is understandable.
The issue is that my bot was consistently playing 1-2 games per minute, and now it doesn't play any games anymore, even though there are opponents it hadn't played with yet.

This only means that there are other matches in the progress.
I assure you, the game engine does not stop playing games until all bots have played with each other.

One of the things to remember is that bots with fewer games have priority, so you have to wait until most bots have more games than you or the guy in #1.

Seems so, but top 10 is very close and we haven't fought one another yet. I'm really curious how it will play out.

Pretty sure he uses something more complex than just 1 algorithm.
