How about a hidebot? Which has an army of ants just behind the FOW, and uses one ant to spy on the enemy and to coordinate the rest of the ants to make sure they're not seen.

That would be difficult to pull off. Most bots tend to have a swam of ants in the vicinity of their mound, so it's difficult for a spy to scout around without dieing. Furthermore, it'd be difficult to hide the swarm at all.

You could try to hide your hill though, most bots probably doesn't try swarm a hill based on a guess where it is.

Could be costly(in # of ants) though And when playing the better bots, I think they will figure out where it is even if they didn't see it yet.

Yeah, I really need to work on inference of hidden areas. Though even a simple BFS food gatherer and explorer is enough to get in the top 200 or so.
