Postby umpalumpa » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:42 pm

hi, please could me someone tells, why I get timeout after first run after compilation, but in next runs i don't get timeouts (usual)?
and how is possible, that sometimes I get timeouts in my PC, when I am checking computation time in each cycle and if i am closed to timeout i stop my bot? i get timeout between two turns?
thx

Timeouts on the game servers are likely server problems.

If it's timing out on your computer, however, and you say you cut it off if it's close to timing out, try giving a bit more breathing space and cutting out a little earlier (say, with 50 ms remaining instead of 25).

One cause of this could be the load-time for external libraries. For example if you're using Java and the run-time environment is not loaded the first time you run, or if you're running low on memory so it keeps getting paged out of main RAM when not in use - this could explain timeouts on first run but not on subsequent ones.
